Rep. Jim Hackworth - House District 33

 IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                                March 1, 2010

Hackworth to hold Government 101 Workshop
for Constituents

State Representative Jim Hackworth (D-Clinton) will sponsor a workshop about key governmental issues on Thursday, March 11, 2010, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Oak Ridge Civic Center (A&B rooms). The Civic Center is located at 1403 Oak Ridge Turnpike in Oak Ridge.

The topics of the workshop, called “Government 101,” will include health and healthcare conditions in Tennessee, the recent changes in education, and the overall status of employment in the area.

“This is a chance to bring government to the people,” Hackworth stated. “When I talk to people of this area, they express concerns about healthcare, education, and jobs. So, in order to address those concerns, I am bringing in folks from Nashville to talk about those issues.”

The discussion of health and healthcare will focus on the issues currently facing the State of Tennessee, including overall health factors and the current status of the TennCare and Cover TN programs. The education discussion will be directed at the changes to the education system made by the General Assembly during the recently-concluded Special Session on Education. The third and final piece of the program will concern the current economic conditions of the State and what assistance may be helpful.
